Our Doctors
Dr. Narvan Bennett
Dr. Bennett was born and raised in Germany and moved to Connecticut at the age of 15. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After entering the field of optometry as a vision therapist and optician, she continued her education at SUNY College of Optometry, where she graduated with her Doctorate in Optometry in 2013. Dr. Bennett administers ocular health and functional vision evaluations to patients of all ages, including those with a history of headaches, double vision and academic difficulties.
Dr. Bennett lives with her husband, their daughter and two dogs in Shelton. They enjoy karate as a family, going to the beach and traveling together.
Dr. Lisa A. Carroll
Dr. Lisa Carroll was raised in the Stratford/Shelton area. She attended St. Joseph High School, Muhlenberg College and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry/Salus University.
Post-graduation, Dr. Carroll completed a residency in vision rehabilitation at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in West Haven, CT. She then accepted a one year appointment as Program Director for the Mobile Vision Program in New Brunswick, Canada. Dr. Carroll returned to Stratford to join her father in private practice until his retirement in 1992. In 1999, Dr. Carroll and Dr. Noonan joined forces to create Stratford Eyecare Associates, LLC where together they provided eyecare to the area for over 25 years.

Our History: A Legacy of Care
Long before Stratford Eyecare Associates was under the leadership of Dr. Narvan Bennett – it started with Lisa’s father, Dr. Donald Carroll.
Dr. Donald Carroll returned to his hometown of Stratford upon completion of his military duties as an optometrist at Walter Reed Army hospital in the mid 1950’s . He opened cold in Stratford Center and knew he would “make it” when he had 3 walk-ins the first week.
Dr. Richard Kmetzo came on scene in the mid 1970’s when he took over another practice in Paradise Green. In the 1980’s, Dr. Lisa Carroll joined forces with her father and Dr. Thomas Noonan took over from Dr. Kmetzo.
In 1999, Dr. Carroll and Dr. Noonan joined forces to create Stratford Eyecare Associates, LLC where they have been providing eyecare to the area for over 25 years.
Today, that legacy continues under the leadership of Dr. Narvan Bennett. Dr. Bennett is committed to honoring the foundation built before her – while continuing to move the practice forward. With a focus on the most up-to-date eye care technology, including advanced diagnostic tools and modern retinal imaging, Dr. Bennett blends tradition with innovation to deliver exceptional vision care for today’s patients and tomorrow’s needs.
Dr. Thomas Noonan
Dr. Thomas Noonan was raised in the Stratford/Bridgeport area. He attended Kolbe High School, Boston College and the New England College of Optometry. Upon graduation, he served in the United States military as an Army Captain and Doctor of Optometry for four years, three years of which were spent in Germany. After completing his military obligation with Honorable Discharge, Dr. Noonan returned to Connecticut to establish his private practice. In 1999, Dr. Noonan and Dr. Carroll joined forces to establish Stratford Eyecare Associates, LLC where they provided eyecare to the area for over 25 years.
Dr. Noonan retired from the practice in 2025.
Dr. Donald Carroll
